Writers in the Round with Travis Jerome & Maurice Mangum
Fri Feb 17 8pm Return to J@M events
If the deep rooted sound of Southeastern Kentucky’s coal mines found musical fusion with the rhythmic soul of the Motor City’s assembly lines, Travis Jerome Goff would be its product. Part Midwest boy and part Southeastern Kentucky kid; I am a cultural contradiction. I guess if 8 Mile met Jackson, Kentucky. Travis is a singer/songwriter with a 2016 BMI award for co-writing the Jake Owen released hit “What we Aint Got” and has toured with a whole slew of todays country music royalty including but not limited to Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Halfway to Hazard, Jason Aldean, Deirks Bently and many, many, more. In 2016 Travis released his first E.P. called “The Rest” and is preparing to release a second E.P. in early 2017. Originally from Eastern North Carolina, Maurice Mangum has spent nearly his entire career on the rock side of the music industry. Sharing the stage with the likes of Sister Hazel, Tonic, Third Eye Blind, Maroon5, Fuel, Collective Soul, Everclear, David Ryan Harris, Emerson Hart, Sting, John Mayer and more, you could say he's been around the block a time or two. Maurice has been working with local producer/ guitarist, Ethan Caswell, drummer Greg Baker & bassist Kyle Caswell. The band, titled after Maurice, has a record slated to be released mid 2017. Maurice is also hard at work on an alt country solo acoustic record, due out in 2017 as well.
